Portuguese egg tarts are a traditional specialty of Portugal with a fine aroma and sweet flavour
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 12 poeple
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp corn flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 sheet thawed puff pastry
All ingredients are available at Foodhall stores
- In a large saucepan combine eggs, corn flour, sugar and milk. Set the saucepan over medium heat and mix vigorously until the mixture starts to thicken. Bring to a boil and then remove the saucepan off heat.
- Let the custard cool completely. Pre-heat the oven to 190 degree C
- Roll the puff pastry and cut out 12 discs of equal sizes from it.
- Line a muffin tin wit h puff pastry discs. Fill with custard. Bake at 190 degree C for 20-25 minutes.
