Conically shaped with seeds on the outside, strawberries can be eaten fresh, added to salads, made into sauces and jams and used in desserts. Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and contain some vitamin A and folate.

Choose brightly coloured, plump berries that still have their green caps attached and which are uniform in size. Avoid soft, shriveled or moldy berries.
Do not wash strawberries until ready to use or eat. Store in the refrigerator for not longer than 2-3 days.
